This one is another former magnate residences at Miodowa street. However, it is not as magnificent as the neighbouring Mlodziejowski or Branickis palaces. The building was constructed in baroque style before 1733 for the court officer Jozefat Szaniawski. Later the palace was owned by Szaniawskis family, and then by Ostrowskis family. In years 1782-83 classicist decorations were added, probably according to a design by Stanislaw Zawadzki. Another reconstruction, by Fryderyk Albert Lessel, took place in 1812. In 19th century the palace became a tenement (a house with flats for rent).

In 1939 the building was burned, its reconstruction was finished in 1950. Its today's form, designed by Borys Zinserling is a compilation of the initial, baroque one (the upper floor) and later, classicist one (ground floor, which partly remained during the war).
