Skyscraper of TPSA, located at Moniuszki street is one of very controversial and disliked buildings. It is not a case of its architecture - its simple solid and glass elevation could look very well, but only if the building stood in a different place.
The problem is that in this place no skyscraper should appear. Town planners agree that the part of the city between Marszalkowska, Swietokrzyska, Nowy Swiat and Jerozolimskie Avenue is the area where no new skyscrapers should be built. A lot of pre-war buildings survived in this part of Warsaw and all houses here are of so-called Warsaw height, which is no more than 7-10 floors. The only higher buildings here are former Prudential (Warszawa Hotel) and the skyscrapers of the Eastern Wall. And only those buildings should be dominants here. Constructing the skyscraper at Moniuszki street disturbed this order. And, what is more, the upper-part of the building was not located parallel to Moniuszki street, but aslant. Probably the designer's idea was to make the building more original, but in fact it only look like if the building was thrown accidentally into the city's structure.
The only advantage of the building is probably that it can be a very good example of how the buildings should not be located. It is a very expressive example of a building constructed without paying any attention to the surrounding.
The building was constructed in 2001 and initially offices of TPSA company were located here. In 2008 it was purchased by Danish investment group Baltic Property Trust Optima.
